For Patients

Elective admission for the hospital treatment is based on a referral for hospitalization issued by a physician. A referring physician encloses medical results that justify the initial diagnosis. The original referral is attached to the hospital’s documentation. The referral to the Department may be delivered to the hospital in person, by a third party or by mail. On the referral the patient has to indicate his/her contact number in order to determine the date of qualification.

Rules of admission:

  • The qualification for admission to the Department is carried out by the Chief of the Department, his/her Deputy or a designated physician and aims at providing an initial assessment of patient’s state of health, making decision on acceptance or refusal concerning his/her admission, qualifying the patient to the medical category (urgent case/stable case) and, if necessary, determining the initial date of patient’s admission to the treatment. The physician may commission carrying out additional medical examinations and consultation. The test required from each patient: written opinion from the dentist about absence of inflammatory spots in the mouth.
  • The patient applies to the secretariat of the Department with the referral for hospital treatment and with a document confirming his identity.
  • The secretary of the Department gives the patient relevant information on the further proceedings and preparation for the treatment and informs the patient in writing of the date of providing the benefits, together with justification of the chosen date.
  • Patients are entered to the queue of waiting patients, while the implementation of referrals is made by the order of the entries in the Waiting List.
  • In due time the patient applies to the previously designated place, where he/she submits a document confirming his/her identity. Verification is made of the patient’s entitlement for the benefits financed from public funds, and then the patient is directed to the physician.
  • The physician makes an assessment of the patient’s state of health, analyzes the results of medical tests, medical documentation provided by the patient and other relevant documents on the basis of which he/she shall decide on whether the patient may be admitted to the hospital or not.

  • Patients should have their own underwear, pajamas, personal hygiene articles, clothing, e.g. a tracksuit to exercise.
