About the Department


The Department provides a complete diagnosis and treatment of diseases of cardiovascular system together with a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation.  The Department of Cardiac Intensive Care provides treatment of patients who require intensive care for cardiologic and internal medicine reasons, including mechanical respiration support.  The department is equipped with a modern system for non-invasive and invasive comprehensive monitoring of the patient.
Bedside echocardiographic diagnostics, temporal cardiac stimulation and therapeutic hypothermia for patients after sudden cardiac arrest are standard procedures.
  • The physicians from the Department are engaged in scientific research, participate in international and national research programs for the treatment of atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, lipid disorders, hypertension, heart rhythm disorders, venous thromboembolism and pulmonary embolism.
  • Numerous publications in Polish and international cardiologic journals and presentations at congresses of cardiology are the results of research and scientific work.
  • The Department conducts regular clinical cooperation with a number of leading medical centers in the country and all over the world, and participates in Observation Programs of the European Society of Cardiology Euro Heart Survey.

For Patients


Patients are admitted for treatment on the basis of a referral to the hospital. Admissions without referral are implemented in cases of sudden deterioration of the status of health and imminent threat to life.
Rules of admission:
  • Admission for hospital treatment under a physician’s referral for hospitalization takes place in the Central Admission Hall at ul. Skarbowa 1. The referring physician encloses the results of medical tests that justify the initial diagnosis. The original referral is attached to the hospital documentation.
  • Patient applies to the Central Admission Hall  with a referral for hospital treatment with a document confirming his identity.
  • The physician of the Central Admission Hall makes an assessment of a patient’s status of health, analyzes provided results of medical tests and other relevant documents, on the basis of which the physician decides on the acceptance or refusal of the patient’s admission to the hospital.
  • Patients should have their own underwear, pajamas, articles of personal hygiene.
